ehunmilak, nature and sport united

The fundamental rule of this test is respect; both for himself and in front of judges, volunteers, runners and spectators. At the same time, respect for the environment is also basic. ehunmilak is an environmentally sustainable project according to the Erronka Garbia methodology of the Basque Government. This methodology aims to raise awareness among people attending the event and the organizing entities about the need to mitigate the negative impacts associated with the development of mass events. We want all of us to make ehunmilak a sustainable event. The organization makes great efforts to minimize the environmental impact of the test. Below are some of the actions carried out in this regard during the preparation and development of the race, as well as after its completion.
  • The marking of the course is something fundamental in this type of races. To do this, the organization has out on natural supports, and if tspecific (reflective) beacons arranged along the entire route. These beacons are placed several hours before the start of the race, and are removed when the last runner passes. The placement of these beacons is carried here are none, on supports designed by the organization.
  • The sprays used are biodegradable. The remains of these sprays disappear after a few days. We try to reduce this period of time as much as possible each year, looking for new formulas.
  • Once the route has been marked, all participants must follow these indications, to avoid deterioration and erosion of the place to the extent possible. Failure to follow the marks will be grounds for a penalty, as stated in the race regulations.

Race information will be provided in digital format, with the aim of minimizing the use of paper at the event. It will also try to reduce this expense as much as possible by using information points and panels arranged at different points of the event.

  • In many of the refreshment stations, participants will no longer see containers containing liquids. Making an effort to innovate, the drinks will be served through pipes. This not only reduces the use of disposable bottles, but also prevents the drink from heating up.
  • Mineral water is supplied through large format containers to minimize the use of plastic.
  • Food from the refreshment stations will be available to participants in compostable containers and tableware. The drink will be served in reusable glasses.
  • Participants are recommended to use water responsibly at the refreshment stations (shower, bathrooms).
  • ehunmilak and goierriko2haundiak participants are given a bag at the time of bib pick-up, so that they can carry the waste to the next aid station.
  • At all supplies there will be specific containers (packaging, paper, organic matter and non-recyclable rest) duly identified to separate waste.
  • All waste will be managed by the Commonwealth of Sasieta for proper recycling.
  • Throwing garbage along the route is cause for punishment.

ehunmilak wants to emphasize the importance of sustainable mobility. To this end, the organization will make a network of buses available to participants, companions and spectators to travel to different points along the route, with the aim of reducing the volume of vehicles along it.

ehunmilak organization calls for all people who come to the test to use the public transport network to get to Beasain and move around during the test, or failing that, to share a private vehicle.
